ABSTRACT

I. INTRODUCTION “Polyelectrolytes are polymers bearing ionizable groups, which, in polar solvents, can dissociate into charged polymer chains (macroions) and small counterions” [1]; see Figure 1. The combination of macromolecular prop erties and long-range electrostatic interactions results in an impressive va riety of phenomena. It makes these systems interesting from a fundamental as well as a technological point of view.
