ABSTRACT

Two Min themes are developed in the paper. The first theme is the need for ell working on various aspects or FRC theory and applications to pool resources more effectively and to learn from one another and from workers in parallel fields. The second thome is the need to look more, carefully at the future needs of society so that FRC products can compete more effectively and efficiently. The paper reviews briefly the factors affecting the use of FRC, PRC materials and structures and current areas of research and applications. The future aims of researchers and design engineers should be directed towards the better understanding of FRC through modelling and experimental studies together with greter exploitation of FRC resulting from improved performance of existing mnd new FRC materials. It is recommended that new RILEM Technical Committees be set up with clearly defined goals to achieve theme aims.
