ABSTRACT
Abstract In this paper, for simple fabrication of SHS column-to-H beam connections with unequal column width of upper and lower stories, a simple connection detail which is composed of a joint panel with the same width as a lower column and a pair of diaphragm plates is examined. In this type of connection, the upper diaphragm must be proportioned to be able to transfer the strength of the upper column by its out-of-plane bending resistance.
