ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT. Design, construction and use of concrete works along the hot, salty Arabian Gulf coast requires familiarity and understanding of the macro and micro climates that impact concrete in its fresh and hardened states. General awareness of the factors that influence the built environment in the Gulf such as: available materials, standards of workmanship, available technical know-how, logistics, etc. would assist in arriving at optimum solutions.
