ABSTRACT
Shear bond tests were carried out on stack bond prisms 190 mm high, 120 mm wide and 240 mm long, the bed-joints being 10 mm thick. The prisms were cured at 20 °C and 90% R.H. for 365 days. A thin gypsum layer was used as capping to ensure a good contact with the testing device. A testing machine suitable for biaxial tests was used, in which two hydraulic double effect jacks can be used simultaneously with a separate feedback control system for each actuator. The tests were carried out applying monotonic loads under displacement control, with a rate of displacement of 10|im/sec.
