ABSTRACT
The capacity of electronic machines to store and transmit data and the ingenuity of programmers and systems designers to translate that power into useful work have transformed our approaches to spatial data. Mapping information of high levels of complexity, requiring multiple analyses and syntheses of data is now a normal part of the computing repertoire.
