The thermophilic archaeon Pyrococcus furiosus has a completely unique phosphoryl donor for the PFK enzyme (Kengen et al., 1996) and utilises ADP. This enzyme (ADPPFK, ADP:o-fructose-6-phosphate 1-phosphotransferase) catalyses the reaction
