Pressure-Void Ratio Curves for Sand Normally, no consolidation tests are conducted on samples of sand as the compression of sand under external load is almost instantaneous as can be seen in Fig. 7.6(a) which gives a typical curve showing the time versus the compression caused by an increment of load.
