ABSTRACT
The preceding chapter covers the first major area of computational phonetics — speech production modeling. This chapter will cover the second major area of computational phonetics — modeling for auditory speech processing. The phonetic science for how speech sounds are represented and processed in the auditory systems of human and other animals was discussed in Chapter 7. This chapter will build on that fundamental knowledge and present some related computational techniques and analysis.
