ABSTRACT

Alternative Therapies for Sarcoidosis Treatment modalities other than corticosteroids are needed in certain instances. Diabetic patients, in whom corticosteroid therapy is relatively contraindicated, would be candidates for alternative therapies. Also, patients who require high-dose corticosteroid therapy, could be treated instead with lower doses of corticosteroids in combination with cytotoxic agents. Alternative therapy can equally be used when the disease is resistant to corticosteroids and continues to progress despite treatment, and also when side effects from corticoste roids, even at low doses, are not tolerated or are not acceptable.
