ABSTRACT

I. INTRODUCTION A membrane is defined in the Concise Oxford Dictionary as “a pliable sheet like connective tissue or lining in an animal or vegetable body” [1]. This con cept is applied only to organisms, not to artificial material. Ever since the thin sheet with membrane-like functions was made artificially using polymer technology, we have called the former a biomembrane and the latter an artifi cial or synthetic membrane.
