Malignant transformation in general is characterized by indefinite cell proliferation and can be considered as a blockade in or complete lack of terminal differentiation. Leukemia, can be defined as the uncontrolled proliferation or expansion of hematopoietic cells that do not retain the capacity to differentiate normally into mature blood cells (1 ).
