Sandy soil fixation and cultivation are two major measures in the fight against the desertification phenomenon in arid zones (Africa, Asia, Australia and North America). These measures must also lead to the inclusion of sandy, less productive or unproductive soils in the agriculturally productive circuit, which has to feed a continuously growing population. Major investments might and should be made in sandy soils located in the environs of large cities.
