ABSTRACT
Statistics at the end of October showed that 2000 the area under vegetables was more than 14 million hectares throughout the country, with an output value of 300 billion Chinese yuan, just second to the output value of grain crops. The planting area of vegetables is only 10% of the total planting area in China but creates 20-25% of the total output value of the agricultural sector.
