ABSTRACT

Infection of heads of cabbage is promoted by inevitable mechanical damages during treatments, harvesting and transportation, intensified irrigation, especially before harvesting, freezing and annual application of high rates of mineral fertilizers, especially nitrogen. Under increased rates of nitrogen fertilizers the plants have no time to accumulate enough available plant nutrients and are greatly damaged by diseases at storage. Cabbage raised on soils with increased rates of phosphate and potassium fertilizers under moderate nitrogen feeding is more resistant against diseases.
