ABSTRACT
Given the complexity and the technical nature of the preceding chapters, it may seem unusual that the final chapter should combine two such apparently completely different topics: ethics and a glimpse into the future for biotechnology in the aquatic environment. Although these two issues appear completely unrelated, ethical concerns will have an enormous impact on the acceptability and progressive use of biotechnological techniques. Hence, we will consider them together in this chapter.
