Even though all varieties of tea originate from the hybrids of the same species, i.e., Camellia sinensis (Banerjee, 1992), and therefore, of a common lineage, the resultant manufactured tea is generally classified as:
• Black Tea • Green Tea • Oolong Tea
depending on the degree of maceration of the leaf cells during the manufacturing process.
