ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT This report gives an idea of the EIB’s approach to conservation of natural resources and environmental protection. On the one hand, it describes the evolution of the Bank’s policy in this field and the role played by the EIB’s governing bodies (the Management Committee, the Board of Directors and the Board of Governors). On the other hand, the report shows how this policy is put into practice. Environmental protection is an integral part of the project appraisals carried out by the EIB’s staff. The environmental impact assessment is assigned to the Bank’s technical advisers who have practical knowledge in environmental matters as well as experience in financial and economic aspects.
