ABSTRACT

BEGINNING WITH THE CHAPTERS “Creating GUIs Users Can Use: Usability Analysis” and “Designing Usable User Interfaces,” which examined how usability affects the front-end stages of development, these chapters on usability and graphical user interfaces (GUIs) conclude by explaining how usability is incorporated into the actual development of GUIs. Usability stresses the importance of end users’ experiences with an interface, which is a goal different from that of other development approaches. To reach that goal, developers must change their attitudes towards developing GUIs and how they perform. This work is also different from other types of development.
