ABSTRACT
THE MAJORITY OF ELECTRONIC MAIL, or e-mail, is not a private form of communication. E-mail is often less secure than sending personal or business messages on a postcard. Many businesses monitor employee computer files, e-mail, or voice mail. Some corporations monitor e-mail to ensure that trade secrets are not being communicated to the outside world. Because e-mail often travels through many computers, it is easy to intercept messages.
