ABSTRACT
Since a number of years, displacement controlled uniaxial tensile tests are carried out for determining the fracture mechanics parameters for concrete and other cement-based materials under mode I loading. This specific experiment was recomended with the introduction of the fictitious crack model [4]. Since then it has become clear that some of the assumptions of this model are not fulfilled in an uniaxial tensile test, more specifically the development of a “uniform” process zone [14].
