ABSTRACT

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) defines standard as “a documented agreement containing technical specifications or other precise criteria, to be used consistently as rules, guidelines, or definitions of characteristics, to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for the purpose served by those making reference to the standard” (ISO, 2004). Over 50 years of research and practice in human factors and ergonomics discipline clearly demonstrated that consideration of workers as “human-being” in designing work and production systems results in beneficial outcomes. The objective of this chapter is to identify selected human factors and ergonomics standards developed by the international, national, and local bodies and provide selected bibliography to assist researchers and practitioners in human factors and ergonomics domain.
