ABSTRACT

During the last 50 years, ergonomics has developed rapidly as an independent science and profession, with its own knowledge, methods, and networks. Scientists have published their knowledge in increasing numbers of ergonomics journals. However, much of the ergonomics knowledge has not yet reached engineers and managers. Engineers could use the large number of ergonomics standards that have become available during the last two decades, to integrate ergonomics knowledge in the design process. But somehow, most of these standards have not yet found their way into the design process.
