ABSTRACT

The control/information function controls the entire system. I t plays the functions o f the brain and five senses o f humans. The elements o f the system must be ar­ ranged and assembled in space from the structural standpoint. In many cases, the structure has a great influence on the functions o f the system. I t should be noted that any disturbance from the outside may have a deleterious effect on the system. The waste output is often harmful to the external environment and other systems. The above mentioned system configuration can be applied to general engineering systems. Figure 4 summarizes the functions and the elements o f the mechatronic system. The comparison o f the five elements o f a mechatronic system to those o f human being brought the following correspondence. The computer corresponds to the brain, the sensors to the five senses, the actuators to the muscle, the mechanism to the skeleton, and the power source to the metabolism. The goal o f the mecha­ tronic system is the well-balanced and organic combination o f each element shown in Figure 4.
