ABSTRACT

When T1F4 is intercalated with the use of Cl2 gas, stage 3 compounds are ob­ tained, with a range of compositions from Ci9-to C24TiF4 [41]. The identity period, Ic « 15.1 A, corresponds to a thickness for the intercalate of about 5 A. Although a tetrahedral environment of Ti4+ has been assumed by the au­ thors, these values could also correspond to a double-layered fluorine packing with Ti4+ in octahedral coordination.
