ABSTRACT

In GICs, the variation of C -C bond length in the graphene planes has been correlated with the amount of charge transfer by Flandrois et al. [83,84]. For electron acceptor compounds, the contraction observed is due to the involvement of /tt antibonding orbitals. Several theoretical investigations have been carried out [85] and an empirical relation has been proposed on the dependence of C - C bond length on the amount of charge transfer. This relationship is shown in Fig. 10 together with theoretical curves from Ref. 85.
