ABSTRACT
Pl a n t s can interact with a diversity of micro-organisms with both detrimental and beneficial outcomes. Many pathogenic microbial infections result in plant disease, but often the plant is able to recognize and resist the attack by limiting its spread. Plant diseases cause enormous and often dev astating losses for agriculture and human nutrition. The damage occurs when pathogenic microbes overcome the plant’s defenses.
