ABSTRACT
It is inevitable that the vascular system of the brain undergoes change with increasing age. The primary purpose of this chapter is to review the existing literature with respect to the impact of ageing on anatomical and physiological aspects of the cerebrovascular system. The links and postulated mechanisms between ageing, cerebrovascular changes and disease states will also be discussed, as this is of primary interest to the clinician.
