ABSTRACT

A large amount of drinking water in Slovenia is located under plains in alluvial aquifers, fields on which intense agricultural activity is ongoing. In addition, the karstic environment is also characteristic of Slovenia. Aquifers of fractured karstic porosity, which are very vulnerable to various types of pollution, are predominant. It can therefore be said that, in general, there are two types of aquifers in Slovenia, representing the majority of the nation's drinking water. Slovenia has rich water resources, but these should be protected from pollution.
