ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this investigation was to recognize the degree of pollution of shallow groundwater by nitrate in the predominantly rural Lubliniec region.
The results of water quality investigations conducted during the preparation of the Hydrogeological map of Poland at a scale 1:50,000, indicated high content of nitrogen compounds in shallow groundwater. This problem is significant in the rural areas where high nitrate concentrations are connected with uncontrolled agricultural activities and improper water management.
