ABSTRACT
More than 30,000 species of spiders are known, but less than 60 have medical implications (Wilson CD, King Le Jr. Spiders and Spider Bites. Dermatologic Clinics 1990; 8:277). Two of these species are reviewed here because of their importance: Latrodectus mactans (black widow) and Loxoceles (brown recluse spiders).
