ABSTRACT

Ornithine a-ketoglutarate (OKG) is a fascinating molecule because it is a precursor not only of glutamine and arginine but also of some other amino acids (such as proline) and ketoacids (a-ketoisocapioate), which are probably important in the control of protein metabolism, and also because it has a potent secretagogic effect on hormones such as insulin and human growth hormone.
