ABSTRACT
Rilopirox, 6-[[p-(p-chlorophenoxy)phenoxy]methyl]-1-hydroxy-4-methyl-2(1H)-pyridone, is a water insoluble, fungicidal antifungal agent. It is the second antifungal agent of the hydroxypyridone antifungals, along with ciclopirox (see Chapter 164, Ciclopirox). In contrast with ciclopirox olamine, rilopirox exhibits strong activity against yeast, especially Candida albicans (Raether and Hanel, 1990).
