ABSTRACT
Paromomycin is a member of the neomycin group of aminoglycosides with a broad spectrum of activity against Grampositive and Gram-negative bacteria, and certain protozoa and cestodes. It differs from neomycin by having a hydroxyl group in place of the amino group at position 6’. Like other aminoglycosides, it acts by ribosomal binding and inhibition of protein synthesis.
