Imipenem–Cilastatin and Imipenem–Relebactam

The carbapenems are a group of bicyclic beta-lactam compounds with a common carbapenem nucleus. Imipenem (N-formimidoyl-thienamycin: C₁₂H₁₇N₃O₄S; average molecular weight: 299.3460) is one of these, and it has substantial activity against both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, including many (but not all) beta-lactamase-producing strains.
