ABSTRACT
These lecture notes will begin with a very brief review of the concept of inertial confinement fusion as they are covered at length in other lectures, particularly those by Professor MD Rosen (Rosen 2006). They will then provide a brief history of the ideas that lie behind the cone-guided/focused fast ignition scheme before discussing topics that are important to present day investigations regarding fast electron energy transport in solid and compressed plasmas.
