ABSTRACT
How an organization or institution defines professionalism or professional behavior depends on the culture, the leadership and the broader expectations of the profession. Medicine has extensive definitions, publications, and academic theories about professionalism. But beyond the platitudes and definitions, what does professionalism really mean and how do we foster it in the academic medical center?
