ABSTRACT
Cypress Hills development in East New York, Brooklyn has 15 sevenstory buildings with a total of 1,441 apartments. e development was completed on May 25, 1955 and is home to 3,473 residents. Cypress Hills is in the connes of the 75th Precinct which is a high-crime command in New York City. In 2008, the precinct saw 17 homicides (NYPD Compstat, 2009). is gives readers a clear idea of the amount of violence present in this precinct. Given these target areas, a comprehensive strategic plan was necessary to properly meet the needs of residents in these public housing developments.
