Squatting or Sitting: Alla Turca or Alla Franca?

In this paper, the traditional alla turca Turkish toilet, or squat toilet, will be compared with the aUa franca sitting toilet. This will be followed by a discussion about the squat toilet, as well as its more modern sitting version, and the Hygiene etiquette involved, including an overview on modern design solutions. The paper will conclude with the pros and cons of the squatting posture and the squat toilet.
