ABSTRACT

The necessity of doing the same basic physiological activities and personal hygiene practices causes that all users have similar needs cOIh'1ected with hygiene and sanitary facilities. But thc final appearance and organization of theirs are diverse and to a large extent depend on many social considerations, including first of all considerations connected with family structure, social and economical status, household organization and life style. It would appear that they are the most obvious detenninants of needs connected with residential bathroom and bathroom equipment. But also important in that regard is the psychological aspect refer to human needs hierarchy that need of respect and self-respect is placed on the top and take into consideration varied users behaviours connected with body treatment and perception, different attitude to hygienic activities and individual attitude toward sex, privacy and modesty. On this basis need of privacy, intimacy and seclusion connected with range and character of physiological and personal hygiene activities turns out to be the most important determinant of residential bathroom use. Possibility of necessary and required extent of privacy in home hygienic and sanitary area is the basic condition of comfortable and relaxed bathroom use and next is the principle of correct bathroom design.
