ABSTRACT

The farm and home are inseparable in India. An overwhelming majority of women in rural lndia are associated directly or indirectly with agricultural production, processing and distribution. They substantially contribute towards the labour forcc required in farm. Poor women in developing countries continue to be responsible for the timc and labour intensive tasks of farm. Therefore, the study was designed with objectives to identify the extent of drudgery producing activities performed by womcn in various farm, household, and livestock activities through physiological response and identification of improved drudgery reducing implements and tools. The stress on muscles for activates was measured in terms or the stress of grip muscle strength (table 2). The grip strength reduced to 60% in case of milking indicating that muscular stress was maximum in this case. The percentage decrease in muscular case of fetching of fuel, and 54.5% increase of leveling of land. The percentage increase over rest was an indication of stress.
