ABSTRACT
In this paper, a spontaneous shear localization in granular bodies was investigated with a finite element method based on a hypoplastic constitutive law enhanced by polar, non-local and second-gradient terms (Tejchman, 2004). The FE-analysis was performed with a specimen of dry sand subject to plane strain compression and extension under constant lateral pressure.
