Application of digital particle image velocimetry in registrations of central and eccentric granular material flows

Dense velocity fields with vectors for each pixel of the image were obtained and used for further evaluation of velocity profiles, velocity contours and

streamlines. Intrinsic resolution of the PIV technique is limited by the size of the area of interest that is used in the application of the cross correlation algorithm between subsequent images and this is generally one order of magnitude larger than a single pixel.
