Modeling particle collisions in DEM simulations with an improved integral non-linear model

The case of a collision of two similar spheres can be regarded as a generalization of the case of a single particle colliding with a massive flat wall. Equivalent properties allow a straightforward conversion from one case to the other (Johnson 1989). In this paper, particle – wall collisions will be considered, so as to represent all types of contact occurring within granular systems in motion.
