ABSTRACT
The current Taiwan tunneling works, including mainly the tunnels of highways, railway, mass rapid transits systems (MRT) and hydropower development projects, are positively pushed forward. However, the future main tunneling works are focusing on the tunnels of urban pipe lines, the extended MRT systems, the island wide highways and railway systems, the hydraulic and hydropower development projects and so forth. It is therefore estimated that approximately 150 tunnels are to be built in the future with total length of more than 400 km.
