ABSTRACT
In a numerical analysis of geotechnical engineering, the behavior of geomaterials can be predicted by introducing suitable constitutive models of soils with consideration of the effect of pore water pressure by using the Finite Element Method (FEM). There are, however, still some problems for the large deformation analyses in the framework of FEM. Numerical instabilities arise due to the distortion of FE mesh.
