ABSTRACT

K Washio Laser beams with reproducible and arbitrary controllable pulse shapes are often required for controlling process quality and increasing throughput in material processing. Laser beams with low-noise, singlelongitudinal oscillation modes are often required for coherent optical measurements. This section deals with the topics of quasi-cw and modulated beams in the time domain where pumping control or gain dynamics predominantly determine the laser’s temporal performance and omits other cases where intracavity active optical components such as Q-switches, modulators, etc, are used.
