ABSTRACT

Information has become the most critical resource in many organizations, and the rapid growth of networking and database technologies has had a major impact on information processing requirements. Efficient access to information, as well as sharing it, have become urgent needs. As a result, an increasing number of databases in different sites are being interconnected. In order to reconcile the contrasting requirements of the different database management systems (DBMSs), tools that enable users of one system to use another system’s data are being developed. Efficient solutions for interconnecting and administering different database systems are also being investigated.
