ABSTRACT
A data dictionary, in its simplest form, is only a collection of data element definitions. A more advanced version contains database schema (with reference keys) that allows end users to see certain parts of the tables that interest them the most. It may contain an entity-relationship model of the data elements or objects. This model is useful in determining and constructing relationships among entities for designing a database with a data dictionary in mind.
