ABSTRACT

The intense recent activity involving ERP (enterprise resource planning) implementations has been driven by a number of factors. These include the need and interest to achieve a single corporate resource for corporate information, to capture the same data item only once, and to integrate business systems into a single platform wherever possible. One overriding factor, of course, has been to develop the ability to face the 21st century with confidence — that is, Y2K-compliance systems. Today, most major organizations have implemented or are implementing at least one of the leading ERP packages, such as SAP, Oracle, or PeopleSoft, somewhere within their organizations.
